The resurrection of Jesus is the
cornerstone and fundamental belief in our faith. Jesus’ death is the greatest
act of love and obedience.
Being fully divine and fully human, Jesus could have
decided not to go to the cross.
He could have, “Do you think I cannot call on
my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of
angels?” (Matthew 26:53).
Instead, He “being found in appearance as a man, he
humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!”
(Philippians 2:8).
If Jesus had just stayed in the grave, He would have been
like every other person who dies. But, “By his power God raised the Lord from
the dead, and he will raise us also.” (1 Corinthians 6:14).
Jesus’ resurrection
is the greatest display of God’s power, mercy, grace, and love.
