Deuteronomy 32:39 “See now that I Myself
Am He! There is no god besides Me. I put to death and I bring to life, I
have wounded and I will heal, and no one can deliver out of My hand.”
God promises that He will heal; that He will bring
life.
Each November I begin to pray that God will give me a
theme word and scripture for the coming year. As I began to pray a few weeks
ago, it really struck me how crazy it is that 2016 is almost over. The word God
gave me to pray over 2016 has been “healing”. There was specific healing that I
have prayed would happen – some in my personal life and some in friends and
families lives.
Truthfully, miraculous healing has happened – just not
in the ways I prayed for it. I have realized that praying for healing is like
praying for patience. When praying for patience, most often your patience is
tried to the point you wonder why you ever prayed for it in the first place. In
praying for healing, most often, the wound must be opened and cleaned out for
true and lasting healing.
But, even during the healing, we can be assured that
the process is not for punishment but to bring purpose. Healing from God will
bring purpose from the pain. We can rest on God’s promise that He will heal;
that He will bring life.
